The Slow Boss

Haha so apparently I'm one of those bosses who are more laid-back than her kuli Guest Bloggers, because I'm so late in blogging about this - my Guest Bloggers have been spamming my e-mail asking me when it's gonna be up! :P

Last Sunday - yeah, 3rd July, not even this past Sunday, lol! - I had a nice afternoon spending some QT with some of the Guest Bloggers you see keeping YSK updated while yours truly is being a lazy bum oversleeping or ... shopping. Only joking! :D I've been busy with uni, and it's hard to start the ball rolling again after stopping for so long, but we're lucky these awesome bloggers have been actively blogging in my place. :D

Theme: Florals :D

Some familiar names and faces: Wei Ni, me, Mechell, Cynthia :)

Mechell was camera-shy for some reason that day :O So there are not many pics of her :(

Foooooood!

Wei Ni | Cynthia | Sha-Lene (me) :D

I always enjoy getting to know the people whose work I read, so in case you're the same as me, here's a quick recap on who we are:
  • Sha-Lene: I'm Your Shopping Kaki! :D The creator of the YSK enterprise and the one who edits the blog posts of Guest Bloggers. ;) Now adding to the unemployment rate in the country by being a fresh journalism graduate. XD
  • Cynthia: Sales manager by day, and YSK's personal business consultant by night! Lol! She's outrageously funny and scandalously bold. :D
  • Wei Ni: Our modelesque blogger with a penchant for fashion and a comprehensive experience in the online shopping and selling world, she's our go-to person for photoshooting ideas!
  • Mechell: This psychology major is the baby of the bunch, but don't underestimate her high entrepreneurship ideas and love for online shopping! :P
  • Other Guest Bloggers who couldn't make it to the get-together this round: Anna, Nathalee, Michelle. We'll talk more about them when we have pics! :D

Happy Shopping!

The Guest Bloggers: Weekend Outfits

By Wei Ni (Guest Blogger)

Here’s another quick round of get to know the guest bloggers of YSK! We got a myriad of outfits this week as all of us had a very busy bee weekend! How did you guys celebrate the weekend? How many of you went Bazaar Hopping? How many of you actually sat down and listened to Michael Jackson all day, it was after all the anniversary of his death. Every time I was in a car, I made sure to tune into MixFM to listen to their weekend Michael Jackson Music Marathon. :D

Anyhoo, move along here’s our styles and looks for the weekend. :)

First up, adorable Mechell! All dressed up in classic black for a HTC Launch Party. Any free phones for us? :D
DSCN1524
Bustier top : Beetch
High waist shorts : Kiss & Tell
Lace bag : A gift from Sha-Lene
Heels : Stolen from sister (I love raiding other people’s closets too! Just something about rummaging through all the stuff to find something NEW to wear without spend a dime!)

Moving along, it’s super skinny and petite Michelle all dressed up to for a yummy pigging out session! (I love those!)

Denim smocked tube top: Amour
Giant bow belt: Junk Food (How apt to be wearing a belt from junk food while going to a pigging out spree!)
Red heart shaped bag: Topshop
Jeans: Pasar Shop (Which reminds me, I need to get a decent pair of jeans. Anyone knows where to get a good pair? :) )

Lucky Anna all dressed up for a lovely vacation at Sutera Harbour Resort, Sabah. Please note the jealousy that is ooooooooozing out of my every pore!

ANNA
Grey cardi: Sg. Wang Plaza
White maxi dress: Bazaar (I have one of this too! Wonder where it went… )

From vacation to a pool side BBQ party, we have Nathalie! Wonder if she swam with the fishes that night…

IMG_2655
Ruffle tube dress: Supre (OMG! I LOVE THE COLOUR! Can I steal it off you?)
Earrings: Night market
Slippers: Cotton On

Next on the list we have Datin Cynthia! As usual, outshining is in every way with her 3 photos! And GORGEOUS SAREE! Which btw, she wore to attend a classical Indian dance show! Can you believe that this girl can actually tie her own saree and is an Odissi dancer as well! If you guys don’t know what Odissi is, it’s an Indian Classical Dance form!

saree_pink
Pink saree: India
Lastly, ME! Another weekend of not bothering to dress up! Headed out to a COD and dinner with family afterwards! This would be the beginning of many posts that include me wearing tank tops and shorts! :O

IMG_1182
Grey cardi: Cotton On
Long white tank top: Tanks for 5 (Love this girl!)
Denim shorts: Valley Girl Australia

And that’s it from us this time around! We’ve got a whole bunch of different looks for different occasions this time around!

And since it’s been a few weeks since we launched our What We Wore over the Weekend post. Which of our styles do you feel you relate to the most? :)

Till next time!
Wei Ni out.

The Guest Bloggers: What We Wore This Sunny Weekend

By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

The weekend came and went off so fast that it seems like I have yet to have anything done before the new week approaches :(

After our first few attempts at camwhoring for the weekend post, I think each of us are getting the hang of it ;) But I do wonder, what if eventually we are out of clothes to wear and so far I have yet to see anyone of us here pictured in pajamas (I am hoping to spot at least one who doesn't bother to dress up during weekend) But I guess it won't happen as we are all too conscious of how we look. (Oh, well, guess I've got to do the awkward job one day.. in pajamas)

Michelle opted for grey colored lace jumpsuit to match the room ambience on a hot afternoon taking care of her baby niece ;) Baby sitting also need to be so prim and proper with make up some more! O.o

Lacey jumpsuit - Bazaar in Penang

Freeloader Wei Ni looking younger in her casual outfit! Or could it be due to her constant usage of the Egyptian Magic Cream? You got me to thank babe! =P

Supre oversized top
Union Jack shorts from her own boutique - Peep
Oversized bag from Mooie (OMG, love it!)

On this sunny day where all families plan for a Father's Day dinner, Anna too did not miss out a family outing and was practically draped in all things bought online!! Doing better with the pose girl! =D

Thrifted top from Trades
Hiigh waisted skirt from Agape Boutique
Bag from Junkie Motto
Shoes from bazaars in town

Mechell never fails to leave home for all sorts of outing every weekend. From baking in cousin's place, to paintball, to walking the dog, to loitering in weird places, she is everywhere! Yes, and this week, she is off to a friend's birthday bash and later to a paint ball session! See what I said?!

Tube top and bag from bazaar
Shorts (were there any shorts?) from ELLE
Bottle from Esprit

At a glance this amoi featured here looked like she is attending a 70s retro party and is attempting to sneak out from the back door when the parents are asleep =P If you are not familiar with her, this is Nathalie, one of our guest bloggers that hail from Penang. And in her 70s ensemble with white loop earrings and Coach bag, she is heading to the mamak for a drink session -__-

Top from Cotton On
Mini Skirt from MNG

Can you spot which is Sha-Lene at the below picture? =D I am sure you readers too are in awe how does this petite woman with short hair (that's the mum) manage to raise the girl next to her to such remarkable size! =P Sha-Lene celebrated her mum's birthday in Shogun today, immediately after her last exam paper in uni.

Both mother and daughters seem to have a penchant for all things florals!! ;)
Maxi dress from some random boutique~

The workaholic me, is obviously making a habit to camwhore before heading to work on a weekend. This is also a major cause of me being late to work for half an hour daily O.o
Am going to be promoting our batik in an event hence am donned in the brand's own collection. Yes, we do get to pick some of the items to wear as un-uniformed attire once in a blue moon ;)
By the way, if you do notice, the Body Shop spree bag I have on the floor have been permanently there and there are some stash of clothes unfolded in front which blocks the view. Yeah, I RARELY tidy my room =P

Hand drawn batik cotton top from Meesha Sukira Batik.
Pants from South China Sea, and their cutting is big!! Also check out SCS sales in Isetan of where ever you spot one, because it is really cheap!

And because the post this week is written by me and being a camwhorer, I can't stop at just a Saturday picture and no Sunday pictures!

Yes, I went to work again apparently. It was in a carnival in Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club organised by a client, Sime Darby Property. OK, too much info...

Hand drawn batik cotton mandarin top from Meesha Sukira Batik
Skirt from Cotton On

And this is how I spent my weekend while dreaming if I can afford a pony one day and start driving riding one

Happy Monday! Work hard! Study hard for the week ahead!

The Guest Bloggers: Weekend what-we-whore post

By Mechell (Guest Blogger)

The girls are so gonna smack me for the title of this post! It was supposed to be what-we-wore but our petite supermodel, Michelle, read it as what-we-whore. Such slips happen when we try to repress our innermost desires that people may not find appropriate. *cough*wonder what's in Michelle's head*cough*

Haha. So anyway, in Cynthia's last post she mentioned that we were gonna do a what-we-wear post to be published every Sunday. Earlier today, I was just working on an assignment about diversity in the workplace. One idea I like about diversity - it's good because individual differences enhance our performance as an organization because we all bring different things to the table. Here at Your Shopping Kaki, all of us are pretty different from each other BUT one same passion brought us together and despite being total strangers before this, we click pretty well! And that's what the passion for shopping and fashion does ;)

So here goes! Our Sunday look and what we were up to :D

(Dress from Discreet @ Sunway Pyramid)
Petite supermodel, Michelle, going on a romantic date looking like an absolute angel!
o(∩_∩)o We wonder who's the lucky guy. Haha.

(Dress from Cocktail & Martinis)
Our in-house designer, Cynthia, in her handicapped dress.
I know right, what in the world is a handicapped dress?!? ╮(╯ε╰)╭
Haha. Among the people in the creative industry, Cynthia is definitely one of the quirky souls.

(Dress from Moca Boutique @ Bangsar, shoes from Aldo)
Lanky supermodel Wei Ni heading out to parttaaayyyy!
It was a salsa party themed Sparkly/ Bling. Maybe Wei Ni can dance for us next time! ^_^)Y

Anna here looking great in smart casual o(∩_∩)o
Poor girl was telling us about how her feet hurt that day thanks to her heels, but we girls have a higher pain tolerance especially when it comes to looking good! Haha.

(Dress from FOS; Vest from Cotton On)
Yours truly headed out for a date with the boyfriend('s family) and work later on. Only got back around midnight so I apologize for the delay in this blog post!

So that's it from us this time around, do leave a comment if you wanna share with us your ideas/ suggestions/ just say hi! We'd love to hear from you. :)

See you next week!

Happy Shopping!

Weekend Milking Session

The Guest Bloggers:
Milking and Spooning Session
in WonderMilk and Fatspoon
By Guest Blogger: Cynthia Lee

I always believe that people meet for a reason. Be it to make a difference in your life, to add spices to your dull life, and sometimes to make you miserable.

Whatever is the intended purpose, along the way you are bound to find people of the likes who share the same passion with you. Be it in food, boys ogling =P or fashion!!!

And somehow some of us crosses path. While we shop online ;)

Some of us were ardent online shopaholics. Some of us were enterprising blogshop owners. And most of us were merely impulse purchasers of all things pretty available in the online blogosphere ;)

And yes, we do come in different shapes and sizes. Each one wiht their own distinctive taste and preferences in all aspects of life. Meet US!!! The guest blogger for the YourShoppingKaki enterprise! There were a few more bloggers actually, but due to fickle minds and impromptu 'Hey- let's-do-lunch- now!' there were only 4 of us who made it to adjourn in FatSpoon and Wondermilk in the same day! This sounded so wrong, but yes, we had our milking and spooning session =P With the absence of Boss YSK who is apparently scratching head trying to complete assignments ;(

Meet:
Wei Ni, the lanky lass standing tall at 170cm *envy*
Michelle, the petite supermodel who brings you all the stuff a woman need
Mechell, the romantic (haha I don't know why I labeled her as such!)
Yours truly in slippers, ;( (nobody told me to dress up nicely!)

Wei Ni trying on the bangs for a coming review

Mechell no-eye-see when I try to pitch the idea of a weekend-what-we-wear post ;(

Michelle trying to convince me in putting up the seamless bangs, or toupee as she calls it ;)

From today onwards, we'll try to have a weekly fashion update on what we are wearing over the weekend! The au-naturale style ;) And I can imagine Sha-Lene in her pajamas and Wei Ni in her loose fit singlets painting toe-nails at home =D  Yes, not the LookBook style!

The whole purpose of this weekly fashion post is for you guys to get to know each of the Guest Bloggers on YSK better, so that you guys can better reach out to us. Without a face, we understand that it is hard to approach us and hopefully by putting ourselves out there we hope to reach out to you all better. :)

Unfortunately this weekend we managed to rope in only four of us without the presence of the BOSS, which we replaced with this:

Wish you were here Sha-Lene!! ;)

The next time you see any of us, please drop by and say hi! =D

We would love to know that there are so many of you out there who enjoy patronising YSK on daily basis :)

Till then, keep coming for more reviews!!

By Guest Blogger: Cynthia Lee

I have been missing the fun of blogging lately because I found 'fun' somewhere else - my day job =)
So much colors to go through, so many designs to choose from!

The promotions have started, the sales have peaked, but I haven't got the time to share with you fashionistas on some gorgeous stuff available out there in the malls ;)

Introducing Meesha Sukira! The brand where your clothes are hand drawn to perfection. Yes, you read it right. 'Hand drawn' In craft term, we call this as the batik apparels :) At the mention of batik, I am pretty sure many are ready to scroll to see the many faces of baju kurung in pretty florals :) Here you go!

And yes, the above are depictions of batik fom Meesha Sukira. And so you may ask "Where are the baju kurungs and the floral patterns?" For this season, expect lots of short dresses in colorful abstract prints, quirky caftans of different length in loud prints. In limited pieces! Don't you love to hear that? Knowing that your piece of item is labeled 'exclusive' because only so many of the fashionistas can have a hold on it.

Where to get it?
Currently on a short promotional stint in Isetan Level 2, Gardens, Mid Valley
From 27th May 2011 till 10th June 2011. Yeah, sorry for not informing earlier ;(

And after the end of promotion, I guess you will need to contact me personally to get a glimpse of it till we make the next cameo =)

So hurry up and tag along your boyfriends and hubbies and make sure they find no reason not to get you a dress. I leave the convincing and persuasion skills to you :)

Meesha Sukira batik currenly in Isetan to tease you!

More pretty pictures to tempt you! And if you think only models can don these outfits, you are wrong! Designed for all of you out there who appreciates the finer things in life.

Event Review: The HandMade Movement

Event: The Hand Made Movement (bFree Centre of Creativity)
By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

If there is anyone who appreciates and understands the art of handmade items, I think I should be considered one. This is because I am equally as involved in handmade stuff in my day job too ;) Well, I don't really do the manual job anymore besides the rare occasion where I am needed to conduct lessons on it. But having to work in such an environment has made me more appreciative of all things handmade. We are really passionate about stuff handmade that even our packaging boxes are hand weaved or hand patched with fabrics =D

boiling water to remove wax | the canting tools and some wax and resins

work in progress in our humble studio-cum-office

But today's post is not about the fabulous things that I do on my day job. Today we shall celebrate the awesomeness of being able to at least do something with our own bare hands and proud to label it 'Hand Made With Love' ;)

And if by now if your bare hands are itching and fidgeting to do something creative, let it be free at the Bfree centre of creativity. Organised by the HandMade Movement, the Bfree centre provides a platform for all craft enthusiast to learn various form of crafts from scrapbooking, making own soap and lip balm (yes! why buy when you can make your own!), polymer clay, book binding and many more interesting activities to explore.

I managed to have my hands on the Beginner's Polymer Class, conducted by HooiYin of TinyPinc. And class was fun! The enthusiastic participants comprises craft lovers of all backgrounds! The Chinese, Malays and Indians (from India ok!) of all ages with one vision - to make polymer choco chips cookies =D Talk about being muhibbah!! ;)

class in session

The starter kit. Notice the ring base and some earring chain?
Yes, we are making something! Yay!
c
Mould, press, mould, press

choco chips in the making! ;)

I would call this the 'texturing' process to create the dents on the cookies ;)

A pair of butter cookies to in progress to be baked and turn into earrings (and not to eat?!) Check my choco chips cookies glazed with.. glue >.<

Getting ready to be baked! Woohoo!
Everyone was so excited to wait for the outcome ;)

While waiting for our bakes for the day to be completed, we progress into making Candy Cane. Don't you always wonder how did they achieve the swirl?

Roll, roll, roll, roll and twist!

tada! my candy cane all done!

And all our fabulous choco chips, butter cookies and candy cane went into this oven while we waitetd eargerly to see how it will turn out to be =D =D

Baking! | Some of the collection brought in by Hooi Yin to inspire us ;)

By now, I hope you are shrieking in excitement knowing that you now need not sit in front of the PC and google ways to make these crafty items and have no interaction with people of the likes. Check out some of the classes available in the Bfree Centre and get hold of some friends whom you think may be interested too and start getting crafty. If you have no friends of the same interest, like me, go alone! And meet more new friends.

Fret not about anyone bitching about what you wear, what you look like or how you smell (ok, maybe not this!) in the class, as I can see that everyone comes with the grand intention to learn the craft for and bring home some skills that they can practice during their leisure time ;)

Jewellery Making Class | Polymer Clay Class

Lip Balm Making Class | Scrapbooking Class

Book binding Class | Socks Doll Making Class

The Bfree Centre is located at 12A-3, Jalan PJS 8/11, Dataran Mentari, Bandar Sunway, 46150, Petaling Jaya, Selangor D.E, Malaysia.

I think I am planning to go for the decoupage class the next round. Want to know what's that? Head on HERE!
